An international economy operates inside Mozambique: LNG and its contracting chain, mining, multinationals, donors and development finance. It runs on international standards. We work both sides of that boundary.
01 — The gap
Entering, transacting and operating in Mozambique means navigating regulation, licensing, banking, currency, labour and counterparty risk in a high-informality market. Most firms arrive without a way to see any of it clearly.
Local companies are locked out of the largest economy in their own country, and rarely for lack of capability. Financing comes first, then visibility of tenders, information on how buyers actually procure, the capacity to manage a bid, reporting and audited accounts, and certification and HSE compliance.
02 — For international companies
Almost nothing here is undoable. It is only undoable alone. Four phases take you from first question to running operation, each one de-risking the next, and you can join at any of them.
Feasibility, regulation, and a clear-eyed read on political, currency and security risk.
Valuation, diligence, and access to development finance and investor capital.
Formed, registered, banked and licensed the right way, the first time.
Local management and a back-office that reports in terms your board can read.
03 — For Mozambican companies
The operators and their contractors need local suppliers, and the incoming local content law will require them. The obstacle is not demand, it is readiness. We take local companies from where they are to where the buyers require them to be, end to end.
Most companies never see the tender, and cannot clear the requirements when they do. We close both gaps.
The local content law promotes joint ventures, and international groups entering the market need credible Mozambican partners.
How we work with local companies
For Mozambican companies we work on success fees and participation, not retainers. We carry part of the cost and part of the risk of getting a company to standard, and we earn when the tender is won or the partnership is done. It means we only take on companies we believe can get there, and it means our interests and yours are the same one.
04 — Why BlackRock
Principals based in Maputo, holding European and Mozambican dual nationality, internationally educated, with decades of combined professional experience serving international investors in Mozambique. We know what an international board, auditor and procurement officer need to see, and we know how Maputo actually works. Both, at once.
We do not theorise. We have formed, licensed, banked and staffed real Mozambican companies ourselves. Every box we would ask you to tick, we have ticked for us.
A transparent local interface that keeps you compliant and protected while operating in a high-informality market. De-risking, not fixing.
We specialise in transactions that bridge development and finance, mitigating ESG risk, maximising socio-economic impact, and blending public, concessional and private capital into investable opportunities.
